Gerry Gillespie is currently Chair of Zero Waste Australia. He entered the recycling industry
publishing books for local governments in New South Wales in 1988, and was involved in the ACT
Government’s ‘No Waste by 2010’ strategy in 1996, the world’s first official zero waste strategy. He

their strategic direction. He also currently holds the position of Coordinator for the Zero Waste
International Alliance – a global support network of communities and businesses with zero waste
as their long-term goal.
