VI. FINAL REFLECTION
The topic of current research plan focuses on improving vocabulary using Task-based learning A2 level learners. As a subject of research plan the researcher chose learners who study at schools 163 and 202, consequently learners from first forms, in order to contrast and compare their results the researcher decided to conduct her study on learners of different clasess. One of the main goals of this experiment was to attempt, to find a way to teach vocabulary through TBLL and what kind of impact would the researcher have with the help of this task. The first purpose why we learn a language is to speak in it in order to feel more confident while coming across with a foreigner and express our opinion about this or that topic. While speaking of course we listen and vice versa. In researcher’s opinion speaking and listening skills are more necessary in comparison with reading and writing. First class learners are studied the English language through speaking and listening.
Task-Based Language Learning enables learners to get fluency and develop their self-confidence with the help of real-life situation tasks. In Research Paper the researcher’s aim was to investigate TBLL, to look through other linguists opinions about it and to find out its effectiveness and useful features. In her opinion the researcher reached her goal. By investigating the researcher found out how TBLL is important in Vocabulary. Especially while leading a lesson and having a questionnaire the researcher was able to know teachers’ and learners’ attitude to this approach.
While choosing tasks for learners the researcher was interested in activities that help learner to produce whole pieces of communication, to link and develop information, ideas, or arguments for a particular reader or a group of readers. It is only in this way that the third purpose listed above can be fulfilled, as these are the requirements of TBLL in real life.
However, while making the research and leading a lesson the researcher had some difficulties in the process of teaching and choosing the material which is suitable for all learners at the same time.
Generally, the study that the researcher conducted was very valuable experience for both my personal and professional development. The researcher learned what a TBLL qualification paper should consist of, and how the researcher can interpret the statistical data - it is of great importance for her. Although conducting the research was a long, challenging process that demanded a lot of effort, it was a pleasant and valuable experience for her. Also, the researcher is very grateful to her supervisor for giving her right and explicit directions on how to do the research, and for his endless support when she needed some help, to all instructors of Vocabulary for providing her with an opportunity to held the lessons and to all of the learners for their great input to the researcher’s study.
In conclusion, the researcher is very glad that she could make a contribution -though it might be very little - in the improvement of the learner’s vocabulary through speaking and listening skills. Although there were some drawbacks in her study - we never know whether something is good or bad until we try it. The researcher hopes that every teacher and learner will understand the power of using them, so that Vocabulary will not seem the most difficult skill for them anymore.
