STATEMENT OF INTENT
Learning foreign languages plays an important role in Uzbekistan. Everyone understood that knowing foreign languages opens the doors of success for connection with other countries. As the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.A.Karimov said: “It’s our civic responsibility to accomplish everything that we can do and that is needed, so that our children and future generations would get from us a rich, strong and powerful country and this sacred land, and they would treat us with the same respect and gratitude that we perceive to our great ancestors.” 1
Therefore, our government is aimed to train highly qualified specialist in order to gain progress in teaching foreign languages. The proof to it is the Decree of the first President I.A.Karimov issued in December 2012 “On measures to further improve foreign language learning system” states that the system of teaching and learning foreign languages in the country is aimed at educating and training of the younger generation as progressively thinking people able to ensure the integration of the country into the world community, because better communication leads to freer mobility and more direct relationship which in turn leads to better understanding and closer interaction.2
All these have required changing the basic objectives of learning and teaching
a foreign language. Uzbek classes need learning not only reading, writing,
speaking, listening, but also need learning speech etiquette and culture of a foreign language. Owing to, learners can learn and understand easier through them.
Teachers introduce language etiquette of the studied language for better understanding and appreciation of aspects of the culture.
As well as I.A.Karimov stated in one of his speeches that “In the system
of education we attach a great importance to teaching pupils not merely liberal arts
and vocational skills, but also required learning of foreign languages, for this is critical for them to maintain pro-active communication with their counterparts abroad, get extensive knowledge of everything that is going on around the globe, and command the extended world of intellectual treasure.”3
The given topic for my qualification paper was interesting with its
significance and novelty in learning foreign languages. Moreover analyzing variety of poets’ authentic literature was the great experience in implementation of teaching collaborative writing poems. As the result of my experience I have founded that motivating students in collaborative writing poems was an efficient way for understanding the target language.
This qualification paper discusses some of the examples of creative tasks related to the students writing poetry text-based on the sample presented. During work on writing poems students see that they are able to write poetry on the second studied language, they are increasingly keen on the task even try to write in rhyme, and they are quite successful. Seeing the result, students feel more confident and receive additional motivation for further teachings of the English language.
The results showed that the students` logically thinking and writing abilities are very well; however they have some challenges in understanding some phenomenon in foreign literary text, and creating poems in target language.
