Lack of student-teacher connection 
If there is no contact between the student and the teacher, except for the minimum 
well-read hours, there is no need to talk about any motivation of students. It is very 
important for the student that the teacher be his mentor, so that he can be asked for help 
(meaning, of course, educational questions), even if on the most stupid question. 

Lack of respect for students 
This is especially true of the “old guard” teachers, who consider their students to 
be lazy, although often the student simply cannot understand the subject. And when he 
comes up with his question to the teacher and hears something like: “It was better to 
listen, I gave everything in lectures, go teach,” then the motivation to further acquire

knowledge disappears almost instantly. Whatever the student, he is in any case a person 
who wants to be treated appropriately. 
 How to increase student motivation 

Interest them 
There is no more effective way to increase student motivation than to engage them 
in your subject. It is clear that in this case, everyone will be happy to attend lectures, 
engage in self-development, prepare for practical exercises and successfully pass the 
exam, the requirements for which, by the way, may be one of the most stringent. 

Incentives for results, not assessment 
The bottom line is that the student must not only be interested in the subject, but 
also open up opportunities for the practical use of knowledge. 

One of the ways to increase the motivation of students is to increase the 
motivation of the teaching staff. 
If the teacher is the organizer of the educational process, if he is not squeezed into 
the framework of economic and administrative criteria that do not always contribute to 
educational activities, then he / she will be freer in choosing teaching methods that 
correspond to student needs and talents, will be able to choose mechanisms to stimulate 
the student for diligent, purposeful work. 
By focus and content, the following types of motivations are distinguished: 
- social motives; 
- cognitive motives; 
- professional value motives; 
- aesthetic motives; 
- communicative motives; 
- status-positional motives; 
- traditional and historical motives; 
- utilitarian and practical motives; 
- educational and cognitive motives; 
- unconscious motives.

The main words for understanding by both sides of the learning process can be 
the words of the "teacher of nations" Jan Amos Comenius: "Come here, child, learn to 
be wise", i.e. “Come, student, I will help you with everything in my power, but learning 
is only your job” ...
