Names, numbers and dates should be recorded because they are difficult, if not impossible, to retain 
in memory, especially if some of them are grouped. The same rule applies, albeit for different reasons 
and to varying degrees, to enumerations and difficult technical terms.
However, the more notes a translator takes, the less he or she focuses on auditory perception 
and analysis, which are critical to effective interpretation. Hence the importance of the constant 
development of memory by translators by all possible means.
The exercises offered in this section of the resource mainly demonstrate the essence of mnemonic 
techniques and are aimed at developing the skill of using them. Mnemonic techniques demonstrate 
how to encode information in a “living” way through stories, vivid mental images, experiences, and 
more. The main idea of mnemonics is that by translating information transmitted by linguistic means 
through vivid mental images into code, you can reliably encode both information and its structure. 
And since the images are vivid and lively, they are easy to recall when needed.
