Stylistic analysis of English proverbs.
In the period of studying proverbs from the point of view of stylistic features, we came to the 
conclusion that the most expressive and most common means of expression is a metaphor, consisting 
in the use of words and expressions in a figurative sense on the basis of some analogy, similarity [2]. 
Metaphoricity is often noted as a characteristic feature of paremias [5]. 
Ex:So many countries, so many customs. The countries you visit, the customs you find. (Trans. 
Xar yerni o’z tosh-tarozisi bor. Mamlakatlar qancha bo’lsa, shuncha urf-odatlsr bor.) Anaphora.
When at Rome, do as Romans do.(Trans.Rimda bo’lganingizda, rimliklar kabi ish tuting.)Allitera-
tion.

Every bird likes its own nest .( Trans. Har qanday qush o’z uyasini yaxshi ko’radi.)
Metaphor. Dogs have teeth in all countries. ( Trans. Hamma joyda ho’roz bir hil qichqiradi.) In 
foreign countries money goes by the way.( Trans.В чужой стране деньги утекают как вода.) Folly 
is the product of all countries and ages. Antithesis ( Trans. Nodonlik-yosh va millat tanlamaydi.) To 
live is to serve the Motherland. ( Trans. Yashamoq , vatanga hizmat qilmoq demakdir.)
Conclusion. The metaphor is the semantic center of the proverb, and the presence of ethnocultural 
metaphors in the proverbs makes the proverbs figurative, they are a reflection of the value system 
of this linguistic community. Ethnocultural metaphors reflect the image of the world, they embody 
the value hierarchy and mythological ideas. The figurative components of the proverbs of the Uzbek 
and English languages, despite a number of differences in the means of explication, contain much in 
common, which, apparently, is associated with the universal nature of the linguocultural dominant 
that they reflect.
