Hozirgi o`zbеk tilida qo`shma gaplar ma'lum mazmun munosabatlarini ifodalashi, grammatik bеlgilari, tuzilishi, qurilish qolipi va intonatsiyasiga ko`ra bir nеcha ko`rinishga ega. Ular quyidagilardan iborat:
Bog`langan qo`shma gaplar.
Ergash qo`shma gaplar.
Bog`lovchisiz qo`shma gaplar.
Ko`chirma qurilmali qo`shma gaplar.
Ergashgan qo’shma gap tarkibidagi sodda gaplarning biri ikkinchisiga mazmunan va grammatik jihatdan tobe bo’lib, uni aniqlash, to’ldirish kabi vazifalarni bajaradi.
Ergashgan qo’shma gaplar ikki xil bo’ladi. Biri boshqasiga bo’ysunib, tobe holatda keladi. Bu gap ergash gap deb ataladi. Ikkinchisiga esa ergash gapni o’ziga qaratib, bo’ysundirib keladi. Bunday gap bosh gap deb aytiladi.
Masalan: The valley was deep and there was a stream at the bottom that flowed down into the lake and when the wind blew across the valley you could hear the stream in the rocks.(Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms,310).

Bosh gapdagi voqea-hodisa yoki harakatning yuzaga kelish vaqtini, bajarilish paytini anglatadigan ergash gap payt ergash gap deyiladi. Payt ergash gapli qo’shma gapda voqea-hodisa yoki harakatning bir vaqtda yoki ketma ket sodir bo’lishi ifodalanadi: It was nice to ride when the days were pleasant and we found two good places where we could ride out to eat.
