see about
To see
about
something means to see that something gets done, that a
problem is solved. It is very similar to
see to
but there is less
determination. 'I will see about the problem of recruitment in our
Birmingham office.' means 'I will give this problem my attention for about
ten minutes a day.'

see in
There are two common expressions. One is what every girl's girlfriends
have said about her new boyfriend.
'I don't know what she sees in him.'
They can't see his good qualities, what is
in
him.

with this meaning. No problem.
The other meaning is similar to
see out
and
see it through
. Every year we
see in the New Year with a celebration.
Separable two-word verb
with this meaning. Like
SEE OUT
. Be careful.
see off
You see your friend
off
(from his visit, perhaps) when you escort him to
the station. 'Goodbye, friend. Come back soon.'
There is also a similar but less friendly meaning.
Imagine that you own a nice piece of land. You also have a large dog -
called Ugly Mug - that never has enough to eat.
One day, some strange visitors arrive, and they try to interest you in their
philosophy. You politely ask them to leave, but they don't.
'Hey, Ugly Mug,' you say to the dog. 'See them off.' And Ugly Mug sees
them off the land. He sees that the unwelcome visitors are off his land.

solid dining table. 'It will last for centuries,' she said. 'It will see me out.'
