In teaching English to pre-school children in the kindergarten the aural-oral method is used since 
spoken language is the aim, the only means, and the only approach available here. No speech is 
possible unless the speaker associates a word with the thing it denotes, or a sentence with the 
thought it expresses directly within the target language so the direct method is most natural here. 
It must be borne in mind, however, that the use o f the method requires a careful, through 
selection o f the material for the pupils to assimilate. IK am ount for each lesson must be within 
the children's ability to retain the linguistic material the teacher introduces. The teacher must 
strictly follow the rule: "never pass (o new material until your pupils have thoroughly assimilated 
the previous one". For example, at the English lesson the teacher tried to apply the direct 
method. The children were able to answer the teacher questions o f the What is it?- type.

Speaking is one o f the most important skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) as 
everybody knows. In our daily life, we are in need o f it in every corner o f living space. 
Especially, if we are learners, knowing a foreign language can provide us huge opportunities in 
business life. As a global language, English the most important and valid language in the world,


so we do not only understand, write or read it, but also we need to speak it in a fluent way. In this 
point, teachers should benefit from some approaches by using their techniques.
-T he focus should be on the m eaning not on the form
If you restrict students around forms or tough gram m ar rules, students cannot speak freely and 
unfortunately, they start to be anxious about making m istakes in the tim e o f speaking. I do not 
mean that gram m ar is not im portant, ignore it! On the contrary, gram m ar is an essential area o f a 
language, but initially, you should direct students to move on the function o f the language
