Clive Merrison – Alongside Michael Williams as Watson,
Merrison appeared in adaptations of every Sherlock Holmes
story for BBC Radio 4. The series ran from 5 November 1989
to 29 March 1995, with The Hound of the Baskervilles (first made
with Roger Rees as a pilot) following three years later, from
28 June to 5 July 1998. Later, ten new adventures by Bert
Coules, entitled  The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, ran
from 30 January 2002 to 15 June 2004, with Andrew Sachs as
Watson.
Keith Michell – Popular classical actor who starred in The
Crucible of Blood when it received its UK premiere at the
Theatre Royal, Haymarket, on 15 March 1979. Paxton
