Radovan Lukavsky – Prague-born actor who featured in
The Longing of Sherlock Holmes (Czechoslovak Film, 1971),
concerning his descent into crime!
Kenneth Macmillan – English dancer who played the title
role as well as ‘The Infamous Professor’ in Margaret Dale and
Richard Arnell’s ballet The Great Detective, first performed at
Sadler’s Wells, London, on 21 January 1953.
Patrick Macnee – After playing Watson to Roger Moore
and Christopher Lee, this former Avengers star took on the
mantle of Holmes in the Canadian TV movie version of Craig
Bowlsby’s play The Hound of London, first transmitted in 1993.
Hugh Manning – Played Holmes in selected scenes from
Gillette’s stage play as part of the first BBC stereo transmission
on 15 November 1958.To achieve the required effect, the scenes
were shown on BBC TV with half the sound coming from the TV
speaker and half from a strategically placed radio speaker.
