«USING STORIES TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ 
VOCABULARY SKILL» 
Abstract:
For many years, story reading has been acknowledged as an excellent 
instructional approach. Recent studies have reinforced the notion that reading tales 
provides a potent language input for EFL learners in their efforts to build language 
skills and vocabulary. Throughout the study, quantitative data was gathered via tests, 
and qualitative data was gathered using a questionnaire. The results demonstrated that 
the adoption of the narrative reading strategy was effective in developing vocabulary 
knowledge. It not only improved the students' vocabulary test results, but it also 
transformed their attitudes toward English study in general, the necessity of 
vocabulary development, and the use of story reading to develop vocabulary from 
negative to positive.
