Frequent-guest program
Promotional effort administered by a hotel brand that rewards
travelers each time they stay at that specific brand’s affiliated hotels. Typical awards
include free-night stays, room upgrades, and complimentary hotel services.
Frequent-traveler program
Program developed to reward a hotel company’s guests with
free room nights, frequent-flyer airline miles, and other awards as an incentive to book
rooms at a property within the brand.
Front-office accounting system
Automated (or manual) system of data collection and
reporting that summarizes and documents the financial activities of the front office.
Full-service hotel
Hotel that offers guests an extensive range of food and beverage products
and services.
Full-time employee
Staff member who works several days (or more) each week for up to
40 hours each week.
Function room
Public space—including meeting rooms, conference areas, and ballrooms
(which can be subdivided into smaller spaces)—for banquets, meetings, or other group
rental purposes.
Future data
Data related to events that have yet to occur and will not be found in the
PMS. Although unknown, the data can be estimated.
Gateway
Term relating to a location (e.g., airport or hotel) where there is significant activity
involving international travelers.
General ledger
Primary ledger that contains all of a hotel’s accounts used to create its income
(profit and loss) statement.
