Materials and methods. .
Urticadioica is a 
dioecious, herbaceous, perennial plant
, 1 to 2 m tall in 
the summer and dying down to the ground in winter. It has widely spreading 
rhizomes
 and 
stolons
, 
which are bright yellow, as are the roots. The soft, green leaves are 3 to 15 cm (1 to 6 in) long and 
are borne oppositely on an erect, wiry, green stem. The leaves have a strongly serrated margin, a 
cordate base, and an acuminate tip with a terminal leaf tooth longer than adjacent laterals. It bears 
small, greenish or brownish, numerous flowers in dense axillary inflorescences. The leaves and 
stems are very hairy with non-stinging hairs. The fruit is ovoid puttynutlet. Blossoms from June to 
autumn. 
To obtain a dry extract, the vegetable raw material was ground and screened through a sieve to a 
size of 7 mm. The dry extract was obtained by threefold extraction of the crushed raw material with 
hot water (t = 70-80
0
C) in a ratio of 1:30 (first extraction), 1:15 (second extraction), 1: 7 (third 
extraction). Extraction duration is 2 hours. Obtained by aqueous extraction were combined and 
concentrated by distilling off water at a temperature of 70 ° C under vacuum. The resulting thick 
extract was dried in a vacuum drying oven at a temperature of 60 ° C to a constant weight. 
Result.The yield of the dry extract is 20.9%, which is a dark brown powder, hygroscopic, readily 
soluble in water. 
Conclusion:With the purpose of studying the chemical composition, the obtained dry extract was 
studied for the content of the main groups of biologically active substances: flavonoids, tannins and 
organic acids according to the methods described in SF XI.
