5.ANALYSIS OF NATIVE ENGLISH SUFFIXES IN “HUCKLEBERRY FIN” BY MARK TWAIN In this part of course paper, native suffixes of English are analyzed in the novel “The adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. We looked through the text of the novel and found some parts that could be analyzed morphologically. Here are some analyzed examples from the work:

Respectable-“respect” is the stem of the word which is verb and has different grammatical function in a sentence but the suffix ‘able’ changes both the meaning and the grammatical function of the word to make a new word.

Considerable-“consider”is the stem of the word which is verb and has different grammatical function in a sentence but the suffix ‘able’ changes both the meaning and the grammatical function of the word to make an adjective.

And also sound-interchange process happens in this word when the suffix is added. The letter “-y”turns in the letter “-i”.
We played robber now and then about a month, and then I resigned.

…but as for me I think different. “different”- “differ” is the stem of the word which is verb but the suffix ‘-ent’ changes both the meaning and the grammatical function of the word to make up adjective from verb.
