Differences from fetal hemolytic disease

As a rule, HDN and HDP do not have significant differences. In the first case, the course of pathology is diagnosed after birth, and if the fetus has hemolytic disease, it develops in the uterus. However, these two conditions differ from each other in the mechanism of development of the pathological process.
In the case of a woman, the fetus receives antibodies from her, the action of which negatively affects her condition and leads to worsening.
This process stops after the baby is born. That is why it is forbidden to breastfeed a woman if her child is ill. It is necessary to prevent the entry of antibodies into the body of children, this can only exacerbate the situation.
How is the pathology diagnosed?
The disease can be detected in the prenatal period. Laboratory research consists of the following stages:

• 
  the number of previous births or abortions and miscarriages, the necessary information on the state of health of the children is collected, as well as whether there was a biological fluid transfusion;
  
• 
  the blood groups and Rh factors of both parents are determined;
  
• 
  Ultrasound examination was performed to determine the thickness of the placenta, the proliferation of fetal organs.
  
• 
  If the risk of HDN is high enough, then at 34 weeks the woman is given amniocentesis - a sample of amniotic fluid is taken, which is associated with perforation of the bladder. The specialist determines the density of bilirubin, iron levels, antibodies, glucose and other substances.
  

Postpartum diagnosis is made based on the symptoms that appear and the results of
the examination.
