The Pulaski Citizen 3 Mar 1937

At the early dawning of the morning, February 24th, at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. L. Parsons, Decatur, Ala., the beautiful spirit of a devoted sister, Kittie Kennedy, slipped peacefullyawayfrom loved ones and manyfriends, to find a happyhme in “our Father’s House” where there will be no more suffering, no more death. She will be sadly missed not only in the home, but by many friends who knew and loved her. It was her greatest pleasure to scatter flowers along the pathway of all. Early in life she joined the Methodist Church South, and was a devoted, consecrated, active worker in the cause of Christ. Thursdaymorning a prayer service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. F. Hawkins, at the home of her sister in Decatur. The remains were brought back to Pulaski, and interred in the family lot at Mt. Moriah, near the loved ones who had preceded her. Services were conducted by Rev. T. E. Hudson, W. O. Largen and Doctor Hawkins of Decatur. Words fail to express our appreciation for the many kindnesses shown us. The beautiful, comforting words spoken by Brother Hudson, the prayers of Brother Largin and Brother Hawkins, and the many, many lovely flowers, wish we could personally thank each one. One sister, Mrs. Parsons, of Decatur; two brothers, R. P. Kennedy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; J. T. Kennedy of Pulaski, survive. Also nieces and nephews, Mrs. Wayne Long, Mrs. Royce Powell, and son, Mrs. H. H. Binting and daughters, Imogene and R. P. Kennedy, Jr. of Colorado Springs. W. B. Short, Ozro White, Garland Holt, Tom Pittard, Sol Cohn and J. Lee Shores, pallbearers. In behalf of the family, we sincerely thank you for every expression of sympathy and love.

Her brother, J. T. Kennedy.

Obituary: The Pulaski Record __ Aug 1899

Just as the sun was wending its way behind the horizon last Tuesday evening, the Angel of Death visited the home of J. Mack Knox, near Bodenham, and carried his spirit to its home beyond the sky. Mr. Knox had been sick for about a month with typhoid fever, but bore his suffering with that Christian fortitude so characteristic of him. He was for a number of years prior to his death Superintendent of the Sunday School at the Cumberland Church at Moriah, also an elder of that church. In speaking of his death a few days since, one of his friends remarked, “He was one of the most consecrated Christians I ever knew.” He was a strict observer of the golden rule: “As we would that men should do unto you, do ye also unto them.” All that was possible for loving hands and medical skill to do was done to alleviate his suffering, but the ravages of disease gained too great a headway on him. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. J. M. Ashford and J. R. Bruce, burial at Moriah. Mr. Knox leaves a wife

and three children and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death, to whom the Record extends its sympathyand mayGod watch them, bless them and keep them and direct their every thought and deed, so that when their summons comes they can meet their loved on in his home in heaven.

KNOX, William N. 06 May 1896 4 Mar 1918

(s/o J. Mack and Alice Reed Knox) WWI

Obituary: The Nashville Banner __ Mar 1918

The news of the death of William N. Knox who succumbedto pneumonia at Paris Island, S.C., Monday morning, was received with profound sorrow here, where he was well known and very popular in his school, church and business associations. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Dec. 14, 1917, and had been in training at Paris Island. Shortly before his illness he was told by his superior officer that he was in line for promotion, so excellent a record was he making. He was 21 years of age. He was a graduate of Wallace school, being a member of the spring class of 1917. In the fall he entered Vanderbilt University, and at the time of his enlistment he was studying at Vanderbilt, and also holding a position in the office of the superintendent of the L. & N. Railway. He was a member of the Russell Street Presbyterian Church, and took an active part in the Sunday School and young people’s organizations of that congregation. He was a young man of fine character and genial personality. Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Alice Knox and two brothers, Herman Knox of Birmingham and J. Hugh Knox of Nashville.

----The Pulaski Record 7 Mar 1918 — The foregoing news from the Nashville Banner has no less interest for the people of Giles County where William Knox was born and lived till the death of his father Mack Knox, who was one of the foremost citizens of the Moriah community. The body will be brought here for burial arriving on the 11 o’clock train today, Thursday. The funeral party will go direct from the depot to Moriah where the body will be buried beside his father’s grave. Soon after the death of Mack Knox his widow and the three boys removed to Nashville where the family has since resided. William bravely responded to his country’s call, and a death like this is always harder for a soldier than death on the field of battle. He is none the less entitled to the honors so justly due the men who with their lives make a wall for the protection of country and loved ones. It would be a fitting tribute if the people generally would

turn out and by attending the funeral honor the memory of this noble young man.

Obituary: The Pulaski Citizen 15 Jan 1914

L. R. Krapp, former proprietor of Krapp Springs, who for six years has made his home with his daughter at Cedar Grove south of Pulaski, died Monday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock. The deceased had been in very feeble health for several weeks but was apparently as well as usual Monday. He ate his dinner with relish but began failing in the afternoon, and the flickering flame of life went out as the day closed. The bodywas buried at Moriah Tuesdayafternoon with funeral services conducted by Rev. T. E. Hudson. L. R. Krapp came to Giles County some fifteen years ago, coming here from Jackson, Tenn., where he formerly lived and worked as a railroad engineer. With advancing age and feeble health he gave up railroad work and bought the Krapp Springs property where he made improvements and lived for about ten years when he sold the property and went to live with a married daughter. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and loved the principles of Masonary but on account of feeble health and advanced age did not often enjoy the privilege of meeting with the lodge in Pulaski where he held his membership.
