Conclusion and policy recommendations 
All in all, we analyzed the opportunities and weaknesses of both MICE industry 
and halal tourism in Uzbekistan and their importance for each other. It has been 
demonstrating by research analysis that if we connect halal tourism with MICE industry, 
the combination can make serious contribution to both tourism industry and economic 
development of Uzbekistan. These days Uzbekistan is paying great attention to 
developing new spheres of tourism industry such as halal tourism and MICE industry. 
However, their combination is not catching enough attention, but it has large potential to 
attract more Muslim travelers from all around the world. The country is ready to appeal 
investors into MICE and halal tourism which can make Uzbekistan one of the ultimate 
destinations for Halal MICE tourism. However, those opportunities are now without 
challenges and barriers which should be resolved or removed to give the Halal MICE 
industry its full potential.
Therefore, it is highly recommended to solve those problems together with 
governmental and non-governmental organizations to join hand in resolving those issues. 
Organizations such as the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 
Development of Tourism, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Architecture, Committee of 
Religious Affairs, “Uzbekozikovkatholding” (the agency responsible for food industry 
regulation), hotels, restaurants and tourism agencies should work together to remove those 
challenges. Other aspects such as forming industry and public awareness of halal industry 
by training of tourism specialists and public about the halal tourism, preparing 
infrastructure and legal foundations so that it can accommodate demand for Halal MICE 
visitors from Muslim countries. Finally, formation of Uzbekistan’s image as an ultimate 
destination of Halal MICE events should be considered as an important last step not to be 
underestimate. For this purpose, some important actions such as international branding 
and marketing of the country in given manner should employed and persistent strategies 
to be followed. Hence, we would recommend to all stakeholders including industry 
players, investors and relevant government organizations to take appropriate actions and 
positively consider implementing our recommendations which should assist development 
of Halal MICE industry in Uzbekistan.
