4.4 Defining the population 
The population for this study was a set of medium and large textile firms in 
Ethiopia.  There  exist  differences  among  these  firms  in  scope  of  market 
operations.  Some  are  engaged  in  producing  semi-finished  textile  products 
while  others  are  engaged  in  producing  finished  textile  products.  Still  there 
are differences in terms of scope of operations such that some operate both 
in  the  domestic  and  global  markets  while  others  are  confined  to  domestic 
markets. As a result, it was important to justify which companies to include 
and which not to include in this research based on sound rationale. Hence, 
the case selections technique is presented below.
