4.2.2.1 Ontology of positivism
The ontological assumption of positivism paradigm is that the deeper
essence of human behavior can be uncovered and facts have existence
separate from theory and values (Weaver & Olson, 2006; Cole, 2006). A
researcher in this paradigm is therefore value free and is concerned with
uncovering the objective reality without being personally and emotionally
involved. Hence, the truth is the same regardless of who measures or
observes it so far as consistent measurements are used.
