The market development strategy has to do with selling existing products to 
new  markets.  It  is  simply  applying  an  established  product  in  the 
marketplace  which  can  be  targeted  to  a  different  customer  segment,  as  a

strategy to earn more revenue for the firm. Thus, it can be done either by a 
better understanding of segmentation or selling the product to new markets 
overseas. This implies that it has a relatively low risk to implement because 
the same expertise and technology and sometimes even the same plant and 
operations  facility  can  be  used.  Therefore,  there  may  be  potential  synergy 
which may result in reductions in investment and operating costs.
