Elective course process

The elective course is organically connected with the compulsory course in terms of objectives and content and enriches it.
An elective course is an optional course, a subject studied at will by university students, students of secondary specialized and secondary schools. The term "facultative" (from French facultatif and Latin facultas - opportunity) means possible, optional, given a choice, acting from case to case.
The word "elective" means "optional". The name emphasizes the distinctive feature of this type of educational activity. It is associated with the voluntary choice by students of in-depth study of those subjects that interest them most.
This brings elective classes closer to extracurricular forms of cognitive activity, for example, with subject circles.
Since an elective course is not required for students, consider under what circumstances it can "take place".
An elective course is possible with a high quality of teaching a foreign language and its authority at school. In this case, it is easy to gather a group of people who want to study the language.
The group includes students motivated by different needs: in deepening knowledge of the language, to improve their skills in using it. These may include:
- "Humanities" - who are passionate about the language, the process of mastering it; they have a great desire to learn how to use the language in reading and speaking;
- "techies" - all those for whom the language is of an applied nature; it gives them the opportunity to turn to literature in the target language to expand their knowledge in subjects that interest them;
- students who are going to connect their future profession with a foreign language;
- schoolchildren who love songs in the target language are fond of classics, jazz, rock bands.
Such a contingent of students with high learning motivation can achieve a lot in learning the language and determines the high requirements for the content, methodology and organization of extracurricular activities. Such an audience needs a bright, interested teacher. He needs to constantly maintain his professional knowledge “at the maximum” in order to maintain and develop high motivation among students. As a result, extracurricular activities create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect between the teacher and students, which in a special way tones the teaching.
