Integrated approach possesses following traits of multidimensional approach:
Proportional blending of the language learning material relevant to various spheres of life related to the learner: adaptive, personal, intellectual.
Balanced ration of language and speech material.
Attaining integratively and interrelatively the required and realistic levels of language competence in the four language skills.
Competence-based approach is targeted at attaining certain outcomes, developing tangible competences. Competences are developed in action and for the sake of the future profession. In these conditions the learning process acquires a new meaning, it transforms to the process of learning/teaching, i.e. to the process of developing knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences with an aim of achieving professionally and socially significant competences:
- competence in the sphere of independent learning, based on developing strategies for getting knowledge from various sources of information, including beyond schools;
- competence in the sphere of citizenship and social activities (executing the role of a citizen, elector, consumer and others);
- competence in the sphere of social-labour activities (including skills of analyzing labour market conditions, self-assessment of own professional opportunities, orientation in the codes and ethics of workplace interrelations, self-organisation skills);
- competence in daily life (including aspects of personal health, family and etc.);
- competence in cultural-leisure activities (including the choice of styles and ways of using leisure time).
Based on the present standard curricula and syllabi on foreign languages (English, French, German and others) are to be developed and approved by the relevant resolutions of the Ministries.
THE STATE STANDARD STRUCTURE
The state standard on foreign languages for all levels of education defines:
aims of the academic course;
content of teaching and learning foreign languages;
requirements for the level of learners on foreign languages in public secondary schools, vocational colleges, academic lyceums and higher educational institutions.
AIMS
The aim of teaching foreign language at all levels of education of the Republic of Uzbekistan is to develop communicative competence (based on its composites – linguistic, sociolinguistic, discourse, strategic, sociocultural and social competences) of learners to be able to function in the multicultural world in everyday, scientific and professional spheres.
