When you compare, you list 
similarities. When you contrast, you list differences.
Tell students they are going to read about
a play and a musical. Say: 
As you read, think about how the two works are alike and different.
Then remind students of the 
Make Connections
strategy (Week 2). Say: 
To make a connection to
a passage, you can relate it to something from your own life, another text, or the world as a 
whole. As you read about the two works, compare them to similar plays, musicals, or movies 
you have seen or know about.
When students have finished reading, direct them to complete the 
skill and strategy practice activities. Review the answers together.

Remind students of the 
Compare and Contrast
skill. Say: 
Most athletes have a similar drive to 
win, but sometimes their motivations are different. As you read about two legendary tennis 
players, think about how the two players are alike and different. 
Then remind students of the 
Organization
strategy (Week 4). Say: 
The author starts this passage by talking about the 1970s. 
Pay attention to how the organization changes in the following paragraphs.
When students
