TEACHING WRITING FOR STUDENTS

Importance of Teaching Students How to Write. Good writers are good readers. Writing gives
voice to our inner thoughts and allows us to share them. Writing focuses students on phonics,
comprehension, mechanics, developing
their voice or perspective, and communicating this perspective to others.
Writing Skills-What are they?
At first, many parents think that “learning to write” is primarily a question of grammar. They
first think of teaching proper sentence construction, appropriate use of tenses, and punctuation. It’s
true that grammar is an important component of teaching writing. There are sometimes problems
about longer pieces of writing. Children may have very complicated scenarios in their mind’s eye
which would take a whole novel or feature film to narrative. Others may not know what to write.
Starting from images can help generate ideas for uncertain writers and give focus to those who
have vast landscapes of possibilities seen as pictures in their heads. planning certainly gives shape
to a narrative. There are many different structures, and one starting point can be to read short
stories.
Improving of writing: the routines that help organize and support a workshop mini-lessons on

about memories, experiences, opinions, words, and ideas. The content of these notebooks will
produce many seeds for writing topics throughout the school year.
There are many ways of teaching writing. They are “paper people” “partner interview”, “What’s
on your mind”. What’s on your mind? provide all of your students with a “What’s on your mind”
form.
Ask them to write their responses to the questions. They may write about people, things, or
events in their life.

Give your students pieces of mural paper that match their heights. Then have them work in pairs
to trace the outlines of their bodies
After drawing and coloring in hair , clothing, and features, they should cut out the paper dolls.
When your students are ready to introduce their cutouts to classmates, they should describe the
special interests they outlined on their interest inventory forms. If you teach young children, you
may want to invite upper grade students, or parents, to do the tracing, cutting, and interviewing for
this activity.
