heritage of the people, the restoration of our national traditions and customs, the 
restoration and regulation of the country's attractions.
In order to create a modern, highly efficient and competitive tourist complex in 
the country, a solid regulatory framework has been formed, which is the basis of the 
Law "On Tourism" adopted on August 20, 1999. Targeted programs are being 
implemented to improve the tourism infrastructure, including attracting investment, 
diversifying tourism products, intensifying education and training activities, training 
and retraining of specialists in the field.
In particular, the establishment of the Uzbektourism National Company in 1992 
by the decree of the first President Islam Karimov was an important step in shaping the 
national tourism model.43 Since then, the structure has coordinated the activities of 
industrial organizations, trained relevant personnel, contributed to the inflow of 
domestic and foreign investment in the creation of new and existing material and 
technical base, encouraged the development of all types of tourism, actively 
participated in foreign events and major international forums.
As a result of measures taken in this direction, the number of tourists visiting 
Uzbekistan is growing every year.Our country is especially popular with citizens of 
Germany, France, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Russia and 
India.
From the first years of independence, Uzbekistan has been actively developing 
cooperation with international organizations, regularly advancing initiatives to develop 
cooperation in this promising area.
The country's accession to the United Nations World Tourism Organization 
(UNWTO) in 1993 was an important milestone in the history of domestic tourism.44.
In cooperation with him, in 1994, 19 countries adopted the Samarkand 
Declaration on Tourism along the Great Silk Road. In 1999, with the support of 
UNESCO, UNESCO and the Council of Europe, the Khiva Declaration on Tourism 
and Preservation of Cultural Heritage was adopted. In 2002, the Bukhara Declaration 
on Tourism along the Great Silk Road was adopted, which emphasizes the benefits of 
sustainable tourism and sets out concrete steps to promote cultural and eco-tourism.
