As Michele’s symptoms of anxiety disappeared, so did her physical illnesses.
“My liver enzymes had been high for years and suddenly, they normalized. My
irritable  bowel  resolved.  The  pain  in  my  muscles  just  went  away.”  Most
remarkably, Michele’s osteoporosis reversed itself. Her body was in a new state
of  relaxation.  She  also  relied  on  good  nutrition  and  did  a  diligent  strength-
training program. “My bones are strong and healthy, now,” she says.
Michele  wrote  her  story  from  a  place  of  healing,  calling  it

.  She  also  started  her
own  radio  show  and  interviewed  experts  on  trauma,  PTSD,  and  healing.  “I’ve
gone from the girl who couldn’t talk about trauma to the woman who talks for
healing,” she says, laughing.
It  doesn’t  mean  that  life  is  trouble-free  now,  she  says.  “But  I’ve  learned  to
cope with what comes. And I’ve learned to stop asking, ‘Why did this happen to
me?’  That  question  takes  you  down  a  dark  rabbit  hole.  The  real  question  is
‘What can I do with what happened to me?’ It is so easy to lose hope, and you
can never lose hope. You can always make meaning come out of what happened
to you. You can always find something that will work for you to help you heal.”
