countries. Moreover, for English department students who learn English, English 
can not be separated from its culture. Thus, American civilization and culture are 
important to be studied. By reading

, historian, 
economics, politician even English department students can learn American 
civilization and culture. 
In shaping of American civilization and culture, there are many important 
events. Those important events have their own name. The names of event itself 
are richly loaded with cultural connotations and historical events. It means names 
of event are difficult to understand by literal meaning. In addition, the literal 
meaning of names of event should be translated properly. Since, names of event 
are types of proper names, in translating them need considerations and 
interpretations. Moreover, the lack of culture and historical knowledge of 
translator can be a problem in translating name of events. In addition the 
knowledge of proper name of event name is important aspect of cultural literacy. 
As stated by Hanaoka (2008:28) the knowledge of proper names represents an 
important aspect of cultural literacy in the sense that names often serve as 
signposts of a specific culture. Thus, those difficulties and problems in translating
