Russian automatic astronauts
Officially, the beginning of robotics in Russia dates back to 1971. It was then that it was officially recognized as a science in the USSR. At the time, though, Russian-made submachine guns were already in full swing in space.
In 1957, the world's first artificial satellite was launched into orbit. In 1966, the Luna-9 station transmitted a radio signal from the lunar surface to Earth, and the Venus-3 spacecraft successfully reached the planet, where it installed the USSR pennant.
Four years later, two more Lunar Stations were launched, and both successfully completed their missions. The Lunokhod-1 spacecraft, delivered by the Luna-17 station, worked three times longer than planned and provided Soviet scientists with a lot of valuable information.
In 1973, another station in the same series delivered another satellite to the Moon, which also performed its mission perfectly.

Robotics in our time
Modern robots have entered many areas of human life. Their diversity is astonishing: there are only children's toys and whole automated factories, surgical complexes, artificial pets, military and civilian unmanned aerial vehicles. Many organizations around the world are constantly improving and refining them. Leading positions in the field of scientific robotics in Russia are occupied by the Central Research Institute of Robotics and Technical Cybernetics in St. Petersburg, established in 1961 as a design bureau at the Polytechnic Institute. This largest center has developed electronic systems for the Buran spacecraft, Luna series stations and the International Space Station.
“Mechatronics and Robotics” and other similar specialties are available at many technical universities around the world. Specialists with such knowledge are in great demand in the labor market, as automation is penetrating deeper into many areas of human activity. In his spare time, many books on robotics have been published in Russia and other countries for those who love the subject.
Despite the fact that current technology has reached unprecedented heights and humans are actively using robots, their humanoid representatives - androids - are still "not working". They are being improved, increasingly sophisticated models are being developed, but in practice they are hopelessly defeated by their wheeled, tracked and even stationary “colleagues” and remain toys in general. The fact is that human walking is a very complex process and it is not easy to imitate it in a car.
Moreover, from a practical point of view, there is no urgent need for exactly humanoid robots. In industry, stationary manipulators integrated into automatic production lines work successfully. Where to move - warehousing operations, clearing mines, inspecting destroyed buildings - wheels and tires are much simpler and more efficient than imitating people’s feet.
However, people do not refuse to work on android, there are regular competitions around the world, where representatives of various schools of robotics demonstrate their skills in managing their products. Tournaments are regularly held between machines, for example, in chess or football.
