2. Encourage use of rain gardens (strategic plantings that absorb runoff) to mitigate soil erosion and prevent harmful runoff. Work with County experts to get neighborhood how-to info. Get list of native plants from County experts and make it public.

Have a concrete plan 5, 10, 15, 20 years out. Instead of focusing so much on tax based revenue, think of people's quality of life, school capacity, and be realistic and gluttonous.

A 4-way stop, or traffic speed humps, is desperately needed. Speeding is an everyday problem on Harrison & there are numerous accidents every year & increasing.

Arlington was rated recently as America's most pedestrian friendly neighborhood. I am proud of that, but crosswalks are a death-brushing joke. Can't we improve them? Also, I would strongly support commercial development along lee hwy that mirrors the Clarendon corridor. Retain and refurbish some existing buildings and mix in new construction. We need more trees!

Cars that are parked on the wrong side of the street, facing oncoming traffic. This is against the law in Arlington but there is little enforcement. I have seen this several times on Lexington near the Library and on other streets.
I would like to L/O Civic Association to write a letter to the Arlington County P/D requesting that illegal parking be policed.

Curbs on N. 22nd St east of Lexington St should be a high priority. Few streets in this neighborhood lack curbs - this is not in keeping with the look of the area. Please push for the installation of curbs!

I find that too many residents are cutting down trees because they consider trees a nuisance. They should be educated about the benefits of those trees or encouraged to replant. I also think this area needs more green space, to make areas that are safer & easier to bike & walk in.

Please enforce rules of building new houses. New designs often do not fit neighborhood profile - suddenly huge houses go up or houses with a modern design which is not typical for the neighborhood.

please install a sidewalk so that children can walk safely to the bus stop located at N. Illinois and 22nd st. Currently, there is no sidewalk and it is dangerous for small children to walk to the stop. Traffic on Illinois is often to fast and it is used as a thoroughfare between Lee Hwy and Patrick Henry and adjoining streets.

22nd Rd North is a throwback road. It lacks consistent width; it is not even/level, it is falling apart; it has little curbs/gutter treatment; it has no sidewalks which limits neighbor interaction. I think this street is screaming for top priority in the neighborhood conservation plan.

1. The county is too militant about trees. Common sense should be used and they should understand and endorse compromise with individual homeowners as they do with developers.
2. Understand how the County allocates and spends money on capital improvements. I see new curds, sidewalks, public areas in all parts of the county except ours.

The "McMansioning" of our neighborhood is concerning - the new homes dwarf all the others & take away green space. Also, these large homes greatly diminish the view from other homes - create artificial shade f/ other houses & the view diminishes from grass/lawn/trees to the size of the neighbors 3,000-sf home.

Our neighborhood does not qualify for bus service to Yorktown H.S. The crossing area at Lee/Harrison does not provide any pedestrian support. There should be more police presence in the commercial area rather than further west on Lee Highway where few people cross Lee Highway. Signage should change, cross-walk timing improved, angles of cross paths straightened, and more aggressive police presence would help make the area safer for pedestrians and even speed-limit-driving vehicles.

Huge holes - few or no tress - then monster homes. (Note SW corner of Quantico & Wash Blvd - same builders. ??? {can't read writing} & 22 RD - our modest street slowly houses coming down - huge holes dug - another big one going up

Median strip with trees down John Marshall Drive to narrow street. I would love to see more lighting on N. 26th Street & the corner of Lexington St & N 27th St. Also, it would be very good to put in sidewalk down from Lexington St down 26th Street. We often walk up N 26th St from our home on the 2600 block of Nottingham and there is no sidewalk up 26th Street toward the Lee-Harrison shops. It's dangerous for pedestrians. From a historic preservation view, I'd like to see more of the older homes in the neighborhood be restored instead of being tear-downs. Having grown up in Arlington & having recently returned to the area, I do not find the building of "McMansions" to be in line w/ Arlington's new "green initiative" and a disturbing new trend.

Developers building houses too large for lots and with no regard for neighborhood, neighbors, and little or no Arlington County policing/regulation. An example is Suburban Builders (John Caranik)
Tree planting on the apartment building property (garden apartment building on Lee Hwy next to Westover Service Station and chiropractor). Over the years, all of the trees along the perimeter and along the property line of several neighbors have died. Owner agreed to replace them but they never have.

Residents/Builders who cut down "large" trees (over a specified height/coverage area) should (1) have to gain permission from County & (2) replace/pay for replacing destroyed trees on their property or elsewhere in the County if their property no longer has appropriate space for a replacement tree.

Dog owners are increasingly lax about cleaning up after their dogs.

- Sidewalks throughout the neighborhood are a MUST especially on Madison St & Nottingham. This is huge safety factor. Also, the amount of traffic/cut thru and speeding cars is getting worse.
- Need a common play area for the children. They are currently playing in the STREET! Very unsafe
- The number of tear-downs is increasing and the homes being built are WAY TOO BIG for the lots. They are also out of character for our neighborhood. In my opinion, Nottingham St has been ruined.
- Currently, not a kid friendly neighborhood. No parks, meetings areas, no coordinated events, etc.

Aesthetics. Developers are building large, UGLY houses with prominent street-facing garages. Houses are way too big and fill too much of lots.
At the end: I would like to see a pedestrian overpass at John Marshall and Lee Hwy to facilitate kids' ability to safely cross Lee Hwy to use Overlee Pool. If that is too expensive, what about a light with a button that pedestrians can push to cross? It would only operate when pressed and could not be pressed more often than the light at Lexington.

No more McMansions! Arlington needs to put a limit on the height and size of homes and the % of property consumed by these homes.

The increased number of speed bumps have not provided traffic calming, just a headache, to those who use the streets. Most SUVs are not even remotely affected by the bumps and one could argue that speeds have increased.

Underground power lines makes neighborhoods more attractive, no competition with canopy trees, less impact due to storm damage. NARROW STREETS!!!!!!; 18: Grounds at Lee Center are rocky; 22: Almost never see police unless on Lee Hwy speed trap; 40: As long as coordinate with power lines
