Uzbekistan intends to initiate a special UNGA resolution on declaring Aral Sea region as “Zone of environmental innovations and technologies”
On April 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at his residence in Beijing.At the meeting, it was noted that following the upcoming international conference on the development of environmental innovations and technologies in the Aral Sea region in October this year, Uzbekistan intends to initiate a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring this region the “Zone of environmental innovations and technologies”.In addition, in 2020 Tashkent will host an international conference on the implementation of the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer.It was stressed that the key to ensuring stability in the region is the earliest peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan actively joins this neighborly state in regional economic cooperation, promoting joint trade, infrastructure and social projects.António Guterres noted that he is glad to have a new meeting with the president of our country. According to him, the initiatives of Uzbekistan occupy an important place in strengthening international and regional security, further developing education, spirituality, ecology, tourism and other spheres.

On April 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu in Beijing.The head of our state emphasized that at the meeting with Xi Jinping yesterday, new prospects for cooperation were identified, which will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries.Li Zhanshu expressed his deep satisfaction with the highest level of relationship achieved. It was emphasized that in recent years, bilateral exchanges in the trade-economic, investment, financial, cultural, humanitarian and many other areas have noticeably intensified. In addition, it was emphasized that the inter-parliamentary dialogue serves as an important factor in enriching bilateral cooperation with practical content and promoting new programs and projects.
