ABSTRACT
Huge pressure for effective city management has provoked various smart city initiatives, both from the government and the private sector, to invest in information and communication technologies to find optimal as well as sustainable solutions for various opportu- nities and challenges (e.g. air pollution control, waste management or street light monitoring). The main aim of this article is to present ongoing research project’s assumptions, led within the frames of business-university cooperation, focused on Narrowband IoT tech- nology. By the example of chosen use cases, the author will make an effort to identify opportunities created by the mentioned tech- nology. NB-IoT technology is not widespread in Poland. Therefore, more extensive research seems to be necessary.
