In rapid speech some sounds (vowels and consonants) can be omitted in order to ease the communication and this phenomenon is called elision. Elision can occur between word and word boundaries.
Rule 1. When these consonants are in the middle of a cluster of three consonants in a word, they are normally lost. In words that end in /t/, /d/ is frequently omitted.

Rule 2. When a word with final /t/ and /d/ is followed by another word beginning with consonant, the sounds /t/ and /d/ are omitted and it is normally lost.
