4. Check answers
See teaching notes for this stage. Sometimes the clss may be asked to
check their answers in pairs before you carry out a class check. Sometimes the
students have to read the text to check their own answers. If so, a class check
must take place later.
5. Consolidate and transfer
Whether or not a listeniinngg task is followed by or leads on to another task,
always allow somme discussion of what has just been done. Try to allow the
students to comment o and ask questions about what they have heard. Note:
Listeening texts can often be used again later. For example, conversations can
be used for focusing on functional expressions and pronunciation.
