Modern educational technologies play a significant role in improving the effectiveness of the
educational process. The presence of a significant number of scientific papers in this area is
explained by the fact that work in this direction is a priority trend in the methodology of teaching
foreign languages.
Students of a technical university should develop the following general professional
competencies as a result of mastering a foreign language:
- ability to use foreign languages fluently in oral and written speech as a means of business
communication;
- ability to find creative solutions to social and professional problems, readiness to make non-
standard decisions;
- readiness for communication in oral and written forms in a foreign language to solve the
tasks of professional activity. This implies that, while studying at the university, students should not
only master the knowledge in their field of study, but also speak English fluently.
To implement the above-mentioned competencies, foreign language teachers use a whole set
of modern and innovative educational technologies. These technologies increase students' interest in
learning languages, as well as allow them to teach high-quality reading, listening, writing and
speaking.
The problem tasks offered to students require understanding the real professional-oriented
situation. Working in a team, students develop the ability to communicate, strengthen interpersonal
relationships, learn the ability to listen and take into account different points of view, and argue
their position. Creating an atmosphere of communication is a leading feature of modern practical
training. The atmosphere of communication is necessary in order to create adequate conditions
similar to real ones. The use of Internet resources is very important in modern education, especially
in project technology. The project method is a comprehensive training method that allows you to
individualize the learning process. It helps the student to be independent when planning their
activities, as well as its organization and control.
The project methodology for teaching a foreign language can be used on almost any lexical
topic. When working on various projects, students develop creative abilities, thus the educational
material is adapted to their individual characteristics. Creating projects creates the ability to search
for and organize information, expands the horizons of students on research topics. The main and
most effective methods of using information and communication technologies for interactive
foreign language teaching are the following:
- classes using multimedia training programs;
- computer testing;
- practical exercises using computer presentations that allow you to integrate audio-visual
information presented in various forms: slides, videos, graphics;
- telecommunications projects, working with audio and video resources;
- distance learning, which includes all forms of educational activity carried out without
personal contact between the teacher and the student;
- voice chat over a local network, used for learning phonetics.
The use of Internet resources is necessary to better understand the rules and structures, and
test their understanding. The electronic information environment can be considered as a means of
teaching a foreign language, which takes the educational process to a higher new level. Thanks to
information technologies, the efficiency of independent, individual and collective work of students
increases. Role-playing games make educational and cognitive activities more personal and
motivated.
In role-playing games, an important factor is the students ' knowledge of speech culture,
which is expressed in speech behavior, in compliance with speech etiquette during business
meetings. As a rule, teachers’ pay attent
ion not only to the relationship between language and
culture, but also to teaching a foreign language as a tool for intercultural communication.
