Schoolwide Title I - Parent Involvement Policy – 2016-2017
Wattsburg Elementary Center will:
Hold a Fall Informational Meeting to share with parents the school's participation in, the requirements of, and the parent's right to be involved in the Schoolwide Title I Program. Parents will have the opportunity to present suggestions at this time for program improvement.
Present to all parents a school-parent compact that demonstrates how parents, school staff, and students will share in the responsibility for improved student achievement. Parents will have the opportunity to present any additions or revisions at the Fall Informational Meeting.
The Fall Schoolwide Title I Informational Meeting and Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held at two different times to allow parents a flexible meeting time.
Provide an explanation of the school's curriculum, the State's academic standards, and forms of academic assessments to be used to measure and monitor each student's progress as established by school and state benchmarks. This information will be initially explained during the fall meeting and student data will be shared during parent conferences.
Provide many opportunities for families to develop home/school partnerships in order to promote the education of their students. Families are provided with support to monitor their child’s progress and are encouraged to participate and observe reading growth by reading with their child every day. Our school provides assistance to families on how they can participate in decisions related to their child’s education.
Act upon the request of a parent to schedule regular meetings to formulate suggestions on behalf of the education of their children and to respond to such suggestions in a timely manner.
Be flexible with parent schedules by offering day and evening opportunities to schedule parent meetings and/or conferences.
Budget funds to support parent involvement activities. This would include costs for transportation and childcare or home visit expenses to enable parents to participate in school-related literacy activities.

Present information and provide training for parents of all students that will encourage them to volunteer, assist, and participate in literacy activities in their child's classroom.
Coordinate parent involvement activities for the Schoolwide Title I Program and the YMCA pre-school.
Meet annually with parents in order to evaluate the content and effectiveness of the School Parent Involvement Policy and assess the change in parent involvement and any obstacles.
