Work: During our project you will have the possibility to learn about the history and culture of small villages in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Your main task will be working in the nature around the forests in this area. You will collect old wood and rubbish close to a lake. Another task will be to build a new fence around wild flower grassland. Your help will also be needed cleaning and protecting the nature.

Location: The project is situated in the Nature Reserve „Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide“ situated between the two towns Goldberg and Guestrow in the Federal district of Mecklenburg, in the north east of Germany. This area is covered with forests and you can find a lot of beautiful lakes there. The next biggest village, 5 km away, is Krakow am See.

Work: The task in this workcamp will be to care for the park behind the castle. We have been trying for several years to change the park back into an old English park as it was in the last centuries until it was destroyed.
The highlight of the workcamp will be the light feast on the last weekend. Here we need your help in preparing and hosting the feast. We would really appreciate, if you play an instrument, if you could it bring with you.
It is possible that your help will be needed to prepare and run another festival close to the castle.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in a little building next to the castle.

Location: The little village Dreiluetzow is situated in the federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Schloss Dreiluetzow is a 300 year old castle with a big park, which will be the workcamp place. The nearest town Wittenburg is about 4 km away and the closest big town is Schwerin about 25 km away. In the area around you’ll find mostly forests and farms.

Work: The task in this workcamp will be to care for a chapel in a big castle park. The chapel belonged to the castle of Vollrathsruhe which is now unfortunately abandoned. You will clean the area around the chapel, remove weeds and bushes and build a path. Inside work will be painting and removing broken stones / tiles.
Another nice part of the working tasks will take place on a dry grass meadow. Here you will turn hay, collect it after some dry days and bring it in.
Optional work may take place in a “boulders park” which is very new.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in a little building, the former vicarage. A bathroom and a kitchen are in the house.

Work: In this workcamp you will work on the ground of the provie Theater. Your tasks will be the building of an open-air kitchen out of wood (the work will be led by an artist) including a stove for baking out of clay.
Accommodation: In a house which is used for theatre performances. Also there will be a big Indian tent for sleeping and sitting around a fire place. Nearby at the field, you can build up your own tent. Washing places are outside.

Location: The Goldnebelhof (golden fog farm) is a horse farm situated in the north of Berlin but is really hard to reach. A few villages are not far away but you have to be aware that Berlin can’t be visited too often!

Work: There are a lot of people who are interested in ECOLOGICAL WORK in the eco-village. You will work in the following areas: Care of flower beds, Tree plantation, Castlepark, Herb garden, Village pond, Natural water purification system, Work in the Kindergarten/Nursery school, Clay construction. Coming up with your own ideas for the project and implementing them.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated in large, round tents next to the low-energy house called „Dome space“, which looks like a „UFO“.

Although the main task will be studies of history, manual work like gardening, maintenance work and cleaning-up of specific areas of the memorial are planned. The study part will be the most important part of our project, though.

Work: You will work in a big forest and in the surrounding areas of the old manor. The forest hasn’t been cleared for many years. It once belonged to the manor owner and was really beautiful. We need your help to get back its old beauty. You will also do other gardening work.
Another task will be cleaning rooms inside and helping in the service area.
Accommodation: You will live in rooms of 4-6 persons.

Location: Gut Gnewikow is situated not far from Neuruppin, the birth town from Theodor Fontane, a well-known German writer who had a close relation to this area.

Work: In this year the project in Ravensbrück will continue to connect practical work and study with youth and eye-witness meetings.
It is planned that the group will work in a small unknown special camp near the main area of the women’s concentration camp. There many different tasks to be done: cleaning the area of wild growing vegetation, archaeological work, and investigation work.
Study part: For one or two days (depending on volunteers interest) there are many possibilities to read about the history of the women’s concentration camp and about the background of fascism.
Accommodation: You will live in a youth hostel near the Ravensbrueck memorial. Shower and toilets are available.

Work: You will renovate the rooms of the buildings and you will also clean the surrounding areas of the houses. Another task will be to support the staff organizing the “Autumn Spectacle”, a party for children and their parents.
The volunteers are also asked to create a circus program for the children who are in the centre. It will be shown at the “Autumn Spectacle”.

Work: An everyday task for some of the group will be helping with rabbits and sheep farming. Please note that they do not have horses! You have to be prepared to start your work at 7 a.m.!
You will be helping to harvest oats and maybe help to bring in hay. On some parts of the field this also means removing bushes and use them to make chopped wood for the winter.
Works on the farm will be preparing a compost and removing and establishing a biological purification system of sewage including removing and planting bushes and flowers. A summer party will take place on the last weekend and your help will be needed to prepare and run it.
In case of bad weather you will work inside of the former mill. You will renovate the windows, which means replacing paint, putty and broken windows. You will be asked to build a false ceiling.
Study part:
You will have the opportunity to learn more about ecological farming and alternative and sustainable energies. Please be prepared to talk about the ecological situation in your country.
Accommodation: You will live in rooms for several people.

VJF 5.2. Flowerpowerfestival; Freiberg 03/08 – 24/08/06 FEST 18-26 15 VOLS
Work: The Flower Power Festival has run for several years now. The idea of the festival weekend is “3 days of laugh, dance and mutual understanding” during 11-13/08/06. About 40 German and international bands and artists play Hippie, Rock, Reggae, Goa and World music. Additionally, plenty of attractions can be found i.e.: bazaar, workshops, fire-shows, performances and drum sessions.
Your help will be needed before, during and after the festival.
Before: You will help to decorate the festival area, the interior of the event tents and build different constructions for the festival.
During: Help will be needed in the kids area (playing and working with children), in co-ordinating the arriving cars and catering for the artists backstage. There will be the possibility to perform in a show (theatre, music, whatever) organised and performed by the workcamp participants.
After: You will help to remove all decoration and clean up the area.
You see, a lot of work is waiting for you but also lots of fun!!!!
During the last week (18–24/08/06) you will travel through Saxony (federal state) with the whole group.

Work: The volunteers will help the environmentally engaged organisation “Berggesellschaften” and the local foresters with the renovation and construction of several recreation facilities in the Jena-forest. It is planned to paint small wooden huts, to repair trails, to cut small trees and to renovate signs on the educational way through the forest. Other work is also possible.
Accommodation: In an isolated hostel on a hill in the Western part of Jena.
