1.2 Main types of communication
Allocate the following communication ides: interpersonal , group, mass.
Interpersonal communication is understood as a process of simultaneous interaction of communicants and their impact on each other. It is characterized by a number of features that distinguish it from other types of communication. Interpersonal communication can be carried out in various forms, the specificity of which is determined by the number of participants, their socio-role status, communicative attitude, characteristics of the space and time of communication. An ideal example of interpersonal communication is an informal conversation between two people.
Interpersonal communication is a direct, face-to-face contact of people. Such communication requires a well-known psychological proximity of partners, the presence of understanding and empathy. In interpersonal communication, three interrelated sides can be distinguished: communicative (in the narrow sense of the word “communication”), perceptual and interactive. The communicative side (in the narrow sense of the word) of interpersonal communication is the exchange of information between partners in communication, transmission and reception of opinions and feelings. The interactive side of interpersonal communication (from the word "interaction" - interaction) is the exchange of actions between the interacting parties (for example, question - answer, request - refusal or consent).
The perceptual side of interpersonal communication affects the process of perception and understanding by people of each other, the formation of certain interpersonal relationships .
By the nature of the interaction, one can distinguish between personal and role-based interpersonal communication. The first is more expressive in nature, associated with self-expression of "I". Participation in communication itself has self-sufficient value in personal communication. Both the form and the content of personal communication are not connected by any strict standards, but have an individualized and situational informal character. The role-playing variety of interpersonal communication is more formalized in its manifestations, its content and form are determined by the role relationships of partners, and the process of transmitting information is aimed at achieving a certain result. Therefore, communication is more standard, rational and instrumental in nature. Being the most ancient form, interpersonal communication retains a leading role in modern society in the formation of personality and its relations with the outside world. In the complex information processes of modern society, it acts as a counterweight to mass forms of communication, mediating their influence on the individual. A role-based variety of interpersonal communication along with group communication forms the basis of the communication system in organizations.
