  1. Understand tense, person and number in English grammar

This assignment addresses assessment criteria 2.1, 2.2, 2.3
2.1 Interpret the different ways in which tenses are formed and used in English grammar
There are 13 tense patterns for us to learn if we prefer to communicate like a native.

Let’s begin simple, again action on to the difficult material. There are 3 tenses to understand:

past tense

present tense

future tense

The tense structure is the order in which the elements go in a sentence. We’re conversing subject, object, verbs, auxiliary verbs, etc. The structure teaches the reader/listener which tenses the sentence is in (past, present, or future). The verb/verbs benefit tell us this knowledge. Learning all 13 of the tenses can be a bit of a challenge to English language learners as there are 13 for us to remember. They each come with their ordinances and structure. Some are much understandable than others. The easier ones are the more familiar ones, so I recommend learning them main.

I am waiting for you in the lobby of the hotel.

In addition to showing an event that happened at a particular time, or the relationship between two past or future processes, there is another opportunity to discuss the time between actions. The perfect progressive form allows us to explain an event that has happened in the past, is happening now, and may happen in the future. In other words, you can use it when you are trying to explain a project you started last week, but it will not be complete when you describe the next action.Present Perfect Progressive Tense - Definitions and Examples

When updating a project or trying to explain that you’re going on vacation, you may need to take advantage of the now-perfect progressive era. This verb describes an event or action in which time began in the past, continues in the present, and may continue. This form is made up of a verb ending in has or have been and -ing.

Example: For the past two weeks, team members have been debating who will be the next campaign leader

    1. Interpret the ways in which person is indicated in English grammar

Grammatical person refers to the level of the undertaking of a participant in an action, event, or situation. There are three grades of grammatical person: first person (the speaker), second person (someone being spoken to), and third-person (anyone/anything not being presently addressed). The grammatical person of a clause’s subject (a noun or pronoun) will cause how we conjugate the verb of that clause.
The large majority of verbs only conjugate for third-person singular subjects (e.g., he, she, and it) by taking the suffix “-s” or “-es.”

However, the verb be is unique in that it has five conjugations according to the grammatical person of its subject and the tense of the verb.2.2A person is a term used to describe the author's text and how that text is linked to the reader. There are three persons in English (first, and in).

The first person is understood to be an unofficial person, which is about me and the people I understand.

Adjectives that indicate that an action or situation is understood from a verb and that the speaker, listener, or other person belongs are called personal pronouns.

The speaker is the first person, the listener is the second person, and the other is the third person.

Personal support for first-person pronouns, me and us

Respect in a way that the second person can also be in the unit is referred to as we .

Second-person pronouns do not differ in singular and plural cases

The third person is mostly formal.

The third person may be different in the masculine, feminine, and neutral gender.

2.3 Interpret the ways in which number is indicated in English grammar
Number is a grammatical classification. In English, the two number types are singular and plural. These two groups connect to nouns, pronouns, determiners, and verbs. In other words, a noun, a pronoun, a determiner, or a verb can be characterized as singular or plural.

The term "singular" refers to an amount of one. The word "plural" refers to more than one.

Here are some simple examples of nouns, pronouns, determiners, and verbs in the two number categories:Word Type: Number, Category, Singular Example - Plural Example Noun cat, mouse cats, mice Pronouns, me, you, he, him, she, her, it, us, you, they, they determine this, that, a, an, my, your, his, her, it's these, those, our, your, their verbs, is, was, has, I play, he plays, were, have, they play Several words change when their grammatical number is different. For example, nouns to add an "s" (e.g., the dog comes to be "dogs ") when they evolve plural, verbs might flexibility an "s" (e.g., "he works" becomes "they work"), and some determiners change their forms (e.g., "this" evolves "these")Describing many other speeches, we have it very easy with English because numbers of words (extremely adjectives) don't change at all when their grammatical number changes. For example, we say smelly cats and "smelly cats." The word "smelly" doesn't change. That's not the choice in numerous other languages:

German: stinkender Hund becomes stinkende Hunde

So, just though the risk of you making a fault with grammatical numbers in English is low, it is worth comprehending the term "grammatical number" because it will help with learning a foreign speech.

Native English orators are pretty good at ensuring their nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and verbs agree in number with each other
