1)What is the difference between street markets and supermarkets?
Well, there are a lot of differences between them but, the most vivid for me is customer service I think, because whenever I enter supermarkets, I tend to receive very appropriate customer services. Because the salesman approaches me and offers help. They are always nice, because they are required by their bosses and the managers. But, whenever I enter the street market, I tend to receive some very rude rural people and I therefore opt for supermarkets. But, there is also another difference for the advantage of street markets which is a chance to bargain. Because, supermarkets have established and certain set prices and that cannot be changed unless there is certain discount. But in the street markets, you have an opportunity to do some bargaining. And these are the main distinctions I think.
2)Do many people go to street markets in your country?
Yes, there are a lot of people who prefer to do shopping in the street markets rather than other places like supermarkets. They opt for street markets because the prices are more affordable there and therefore, you may see a massive crowd when you visit street markets.
3)Do you like going to street markets?
Well, I myself, like going to supermarkets more than street markets, because I dislike the atmosphere of street markets. They tend to be very hot, because they are not always equipped with air conditioning and as I said earlier, there is a big crowd often in street markets which makes the air a bit contaminated. And it is difficult for me to walk freely there, therefore, all of these disadvantages tend to eclipse all of the advantages of street markets for me.
4)What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing shopping at a big shopping center?
Well, the advantages can be the variety of choices, because shopping centers tend to offer different kind of products and you may find almost all of your necessity in such large department stores. Well, another advantage is the opportunity to buy products in discounts, because they offer first of all discount cards and they sometimes have black times, where all of the products are sold in minimized prices. But, coming to the disadvantages, you may fritter away your time. For example, every time I myself go to big department stores to buy certain product I tend to get distracted by other products, tend to buy superfluous/unnecessary things, spending my money and my time. And the final disadvantage is no chance to bargain. Because as was mentioned earlier, supermarkets and these kind of large department stores tend to have certain price requirements/standards that is cannot be lowered unless there is a discount. So, even if you have a very little amount of money to afford a price, you cannot purchase that product, because all of the products do not always get lowered by discounts.
5)What makes large shopping malls so popular?
Well their brands I think, because shopping mall centers sell brand products like brand clothes, brand shoes and other very well renowned merchandises. So, therefore a lot of people particularly the youth tend to go to shopping malls to make some purchases.
6)Why is online shopping popular these days?
Because it has multiple advantages. First of all, it is very convenient. Even without standing from your sofa, you can make your products delivered to yourdoorsteps, and this can be done with only one click. It is affordable too, because nowadays, companies tend to offer free delivery services and the convenience makes people opt for this kind of shopping.
7)Have people’s shopping habits changed in recent years?
Yes, I think there is a big difference between shopping habits of contemporary people and those of the past. Because these days as I assume, people have become very consumeristic, especially young people. There is a big trend among them to purchase the latest brands and therefore they are even buying unnecessary for them products to show off themselves to show their ____. But, in the past, precisely in the times of 1940s or even in later parts of twentieth century, people were not so consumeristic, because they had difficult times, they had a lot of ______, and they used to have very shot and tided budget. Therefore, even if they were in need of certain products, they simply couldn’t afford. But these days people are buying even unnecessary products too.
8)Do you think men and women have the same shopping habits?
Well I wouldn’t say that shopping habits hinge upon the gender. It is more up to the personality, because both men and women can be very eager to do shopping and they can be reluctant to do shopping. For example, there are a lot of women in Uzbekistan who like shopping very much and their favorite activity is to do shopping and therefore they go shopping and buy different kind of products. But, I myself have a lot of male acquaintances who like shopping very much too. So, I think both could have the same shopping habits or different shopping habits too.
9)How often do people in your country go shopping?
Very frequently, because Uzbek people tend to have large families mainly consisted of on average four or five people or even more, therefore, they have huge necessities to supply their families. First of all, they visit grocery shops very frequently to feed their family members. But besides that, they go to garment stores to buy clothes too. For example, my family, it has six members and we are four children in my family and my father used to take us to the shop turn by turn. Once, the eldest son is taken to the shop, then a week or a month after another child is taken to the shop to economize the spending. So, therefore, Uzbek people have to visit to shops very frequently to supply their family and themselves. Not only because their personal interest.
10)What kind of places are popular for shopping in your country?
I think, mainly supermarkets and this kind of facilities. This kind of shopping facilities are popular among Uzbek people because of the quality of the product. Supermarkets tend to have a quality control service which all of the outdated or contaminated products in next to no time, but in other places they may still keep on selling deteriorated products too. Therefore, Uzbek people like to buy the best quality and go to supermarkets.
11)Is shopping popular in your country?
Shopping is very popular in my country and one particular type of shopping which is gaining enormous popularity is online shopping. Because of the above-mentioned advantages, it saves a lot of time and the quality of online products are also dissatisfying, they are quite appropriate and the prices are quite affordable too. So, shopping, especially this type of shopping is very popular.
