Reasons why they are effective/ ineffective in English lesson
A) I read all texts aloud.	I	Slows a reader; brain can work faster.
B) I keep my eyes moving past the words I don’t know to understand the main ideas.	E	Understanding main ideas first can help a reader understand details later.
C) I ask my teacher for help whenever I meet a word I don’t know.	I	Learner becomes dependent on his/her Teacher.
D) I look at titles, subtitles, pictures and other visuals before reading.	E	Can help to prepare a reader for reading.
E) I use my finger to help my eyes follow lines of the text.	I	Slows a reader; brain can work faster.

 Sum up the stage saying that now participants know which learning strategies are effective. Encourage them to help their pupils use them when they read.

5. Exploring and identifying teaching techniques for reading
Objective: to explore and identify different techniques in texts from textbooks
Time: 35 minutes
Materials: Handouts 3, 4
Interaction: plenary, pair work
Procedure:
Stage I.
 Tell participants that they discussed strategies their pupils use in reading lessons, but now they will talk about teacher’s techniques. Point out that they are called teaching or teacher’s techniques because teachers use them in reading lessons. Ask participants to take Handout 1. Ask them if they read part A) to find specific information.
