Objectives:
 to raise participants’ awareness of the use of presenting and practising the language in English

 ☺☺Tell participants that some languages use the same word for ‘time’ and ‘tense’ whereas English has separate terms. Ask them to answer the questions in pairs and report back:
1. What are the terms used in Uzbek and Russian?
2. Is it important to make the distinction between ‘time’ and ‘tense’ in learning a language, as it is in English, or is it correct to use the same term for both concepts? Give reasons.
Answer key
1. In Uzbek ‘zamon’ and ‘vaqt’, In Russian ‘vremya’.
2. Accept any answer as long as participants give good reasons. Eventually lead the participants to the idea that tense is a grammatical term while time is a universal concept.
