The first President stressed that spirituality is a priority in the national revival and
development of Uzbekistan, if we do not free our minds from oppression, if we do not have
confidence in our strength, our great future, if we do not have a strong will to overcome any
difficulties, we will not be able to achieve our goals if we do not eliminate the vices of
gangsterism, tribalism, subsistence, if we do not take the initiative and strive for great goals. For
this reason, spiritual growth requires the development of spirituality in order to change our
national consciousness, mentality, to master our most advanced ideas. We also need to restore
our historical memory and assimilate our national and universal values in order to understand
ourselves. That, too, requires spiritual growth.
Numerous researches, popular science and journalistic works have appeared on the essence
of content as a concept of spirituality, its social functions and its role in the development of
society. However, the origin and history of the concept of "spirituality" have not yet been fully
explored. There are some confusions in scientific pamphlets and articles, textbooks and manuals
written by various authors aimed at studying and analyzing the issue of spirituality, its place in
human and social life and its relationship with other areas. 'inconsistent ideas are always visible.
The approaches of different researchers sometimes contradict each other, and the presence of
conflicting opinions leads to confusion in teaching.
Expressing his views, A. Erkaev says that the concept of "spirituality" is divided into two
parts. According to his first hypothesis, the concept originated from the Arabic word for
"meaning." The Mu'tazilites, one of the first Islamic theologians and philosophers establishes the
concept of spirituality as the core - the term "meaning."
The second hypothesis is that both spirituality and its core "meaning" are rooted in the
concept of "meaning", one of the basic concepts of ancient Indian philosophy. He was the source
of the intellect, the senses, the emotions, the senses, and the will.
Because the problem of spirituality is so complex and multifaceted, the definitions given
to it are also varied. The first President Islam Karimov wrote about spirituality in all its aspects:
The concept of "spirituality" fully embodies the ideological, cultural, religious and moral views
of society. Therefore, when we think about it, we can summarize all these views and express
them in the broadest sense of the word "spirituality."
For this reason, A. Erkaev, based on various aspects of spirituality, gives it several
definitions and tries to generalize them in the conclusion, noting: “Spirituality is a constant
passion of the social consciousness that rises to the level of beliefs, values, concepts, norms,
social goals, ideals, their reflection in the cultural heritage, traditions, national will to help the
nation to achieve certain goals, as well as the mental and emotional, spiritual and ideological
environment in society.
