The Bare Infinitive
The Infinitives is generally used with participle too. But there are cases when the Infinitives is used without “to” and then it is called The Bare Infinitive. These cases are as follows:

1. 
   After auxiliary verbs.
   

I don’t like him

2. 
   After modal verbs except ought to.
   

She could speak 10 languages once.

3. 
   after verbs of sense perception: to hear, to see, to feel etc. (Complex Object)
   

they saw me buy a loaf of bread.

But 1) I felt the boy to be very honest.

If passive 2) he was heard to mention your name.
They were seen to leave the house.

4. 
   After to let (imperative sentence)
   

Let him sleep.

5. 
   After to make, to have in the meaning of « заставлять».
   

Bob made his sister marry his friend.
The mother had the father punish their son.

6. 
   After to know in the meaning of to see, to observe.
   

I have never known her weep before

7. 
   After the verb to bid
   

I thought she would bid me take a seat but she didn’t.

8. 
   After the expressions had better, would rather, would sooner, can not … but, nothing…but, can not choose but.
