2.1.3 LESSON PLANNING – INTO, THROUGH, AND BEYOND
What kind of competence(-ies) are you trying to address in the lesson plan (i.e., linguistic, sociolinguistic, pragmatic, strategic, and/or all the competencies)? The answer to this question will support your lesson plan from a theoretical language perspective.
In my lesson plan I am going to use communicative competence. My first activity will be working on the new words. And I also pay attention to sociolinguistic competence by making them communicate . In order to make a communicative sphere Students try to make up sentences paying attention to their pronunciation. My second activity will be matching definitions with the word. The goal of my giving this activity is to increase students’ vocabulary. Secondly I think paraphrasing helps students language competence. Of course in real life they will be ready to answer any questions.
Which methodological approach and/or language teaching principles are you trying to achieve? The answer to this question will support your lesson plan from a language teaching methodological perspective.
In my lessons I try to use communicative approach. During the lesson students organize communicating by the help of free debating and as a result they develop their Communicative Competence.
How will you assess what you are trying to measure (i.e., Assessment-for-Learning and/or Assessment-of-Learning)? The answer to this question will support the connection you see among teaching-learning-assessing.
I usually try to assess my students looking at their participation with giving feedback right after their answers. I think my way of assessing is assessment for learning
Will you be teaching a competency through speaking, listening, writing, reading (or) all of the above? Will an activity that you had learned from Chapter 4 be included in your lesson plan? This answer can support some techniques you may use in your classroom to support the answers above.
According to the syllabus in my lessons speaking with new words has higher proportion. All activities make students to work on themselves.
Please keep in mind how the lesson plan you create will fit into the syllabus of the course and the overarching national standards. More specifically, what are the specific goals (i.e., cognitive, performative, and affective) that you want to achieve; or, are the goals/objectives of your lesson being created from a backwards design perspective?
The lesson plan that I usein my open lesson was suitable to the syllabus and state standards. The level of the materials also will be suitable to their level.
In conclusion I achieved my goal by organizing the lesson with full of interactive activities engaging students to work.
