Hosting an international sporting competition is always a issue of debate among masses. 
While some people believe that arranging these games arises some issues for the country, I assert 
that such kind of events are crucial to uplift the economic state and image of the country 
worldwide.
On the one hand, certain reasons justify people’s ideas why they are against it.
Firstly, 
exorbitant costs on equipment’s, manpower arrangements are required for conducting such events 
which 
might be useless in future and instead of these, the money can better be allocated on 
other priorities. 
Secondly ,security matter is another area of concern, since d
ue to sudden influx 
of people from around the globe, there is
a
lways a threat of terrorist attacks as these anti-
social groups always target the places having big crowds.
To add to it, sometimes many 
intoxicated fans may imbalance the conditions over there because they often tend to watch their 
favorite games under the influence of drugs which may spoil the interest of other audience. 
Finally, 
these events leads to corruption due to the fact that, while hosting such massive 
tournaments, some corrupt people get a chance to involve in corrupt practices since the 
budget of hosting is huge and there are several names who got caught. For instance, during 
commonwealth games 2010 organized at New Delhi, Indian politician and senior sports 
administrator, Suresh Kalmadi was charged with conspiracy and misconduct and later 
arrested under the provision of law for committing a fraud of many crores. 
On the other hand, I believe that these games are beneficial in many aspects. First and foremost, 
such sporting competitions raise the profile of country at international level which not only brings 
honor and prestige for hosting nation but also enhance the reputation of the country in front of 
other nations. Moreover, these international games also provide platform to all participants to 
perform and make records and earn name and fame, even local youngsters get inspiration by 
watching live performances in stadiums. 
Furthermore, these tournaments spark the fire of 
fraternity among countries as they provide opportunity for all nations to get together at 
single platform. For example, Olympics and world cups are the kind of events where 
participants from all over the world take part and display the symbol of fellowship and 
brotherhood to the viewers. 
Last but not least, these tournaments do help in overall 
development of hosting nation with the improvements in 
infrastructure, hotels and stadiums 
and also building of new roads which certainly
boost the tourism industry of that particular 
nation too.
In conclusion, no doubt few people oppose the step of holding world wide sports in a nation , I 
believe that these are really imperative to raise the status of organizing nation.
