Today, the quality of life in large cities is decreasing. Discuss the causes and solutions.
It is true that
in this era of modernization, the qualitative aspects of life have certainly
degraded as far as people living in cosmopolitan cities around the globe are concerned.
Several factors are responsible behind this shattering quality of life among city dwellers and
definitely some steps by government and communities can be taken to address this
problem.
There are many reasons behind this growing concern. Firstly, pollution
as well as traffic
congestion is increasing in urbanized areas with the burgeoning of transportation vehicles
which results in detrimental emissions of poisonous gases and unhygienic surroundings with
population growth in cities by virtue of which it becomes difficult for authorities to deal with
these and maintain cleanliness, thus it give rise to health ailments
with reduction of life
expectancy among city dwellers. Secondly, decline in interaction among urban people is
another noticeable issue as individuals often fail to communicate
effectively because they
generally live in their own isolated world and most of the people are unable to exude
feelings or emotions towards each other which creates sense of insecurity among them.
Finally , cost of living is pretty high in metros and due to these exorbitant property prices,
natives always find it hard to have decent accommodation within budget and most of them
are forced to live in small homes or rented apartments which is a kind of restrictions where
they cannot enjoy laxity.
However, these issues can be resolved with some planning. First and foremost solution is,
regime should limit the influx of migration of people and
should focus on improving
employment opportunities and development of infrastructure in rural areas by dint of which
people will not feel any need to shift their place of residence which will halt the urbanization
which ultimately will uplift the living standard. Moreover, money collected by the taxes
should be utilized properly by civic authorities and they should build better roads, flyovers,
and work on improving quality of public health care which would definitely ease the traffic
congestion in cities and if people will
get proper medical attention, their health standard
should be enhanced. Last but not least, substantial implementation
of sustainable energy
sources should be there in automotive sector and government should think of replacing
petrol, diesel vehicles with hybrid cars and electric vehicles so that urban areas can be
pollution free and natives can achieve better quality of life.
In conclusion, even though modern facilities are readily available in urban areas, quality and
moral standards of life are deteriorating rapidly
due to variety of reasons, but these
problems can be solved to a great extent if the government and the residents take
concerned actions.
