The importance of role-play activity in teaching English language
Today,one 
billion 
or 
more 
people 
speak 
some 
English. 
The 
number of people who are studying English increases every year, beginning at 
younger and younger ages. About 400 million people have learned English as a first 
or native language and use English on a regular basis. Most live in countries that is 
called “Inner Circle” countries, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, 
Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, where English is the dominant language of 
education, government, and other institutions.

Another 300–500 million people live in “Outer Circle” countries, “in which English 
has a long history and serves a variety of functions in education,government literature 
andpopularculture”.
 
As English becomes the world’s language, countries all over the world have adopted 
English language instruction as part of their education system. Many countries begin 
at the primary level, and students are studying the language at younger ages. 
The Decree of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PP-1875 "On 
measures to further improve foreign language learning system" adopted on December 
10 in 2012 has put the important issues before teachers: to start teaching foreign 
languages at the secondary schools from the 1-st form; to reform the curriculums and 
programmes in foreign languages; to provide students and teachers with all the 
necessary textbooks and manuals; to train highly-qualified teachers in foreign 
languages and other issues; to use the most effective methods in teaching English to 
children and adults at educational institutions, implementation of the regular display 
of popular science and educational programs on the history and culture of other 
nations in our republic "[1]. 
In the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M.Mirziyoev PP-
2909 "On measures to further development of the system of higher education" 
adopted on April 20 in 2017 it is stated about close partnership relationships with 
leading foreign scientific-educational establishments, wide use of modern 
pedagogical technologies, curriculums, studying-methodical materials, based on 
international educational standards; creation and wide implementation into the system 
of higher education textbooks and manuals of the new generation; steady increasing 
of the level and quality of professional skill of pedagogical staff and other actual 
issues. [2].
Teaching English as a foreign language demands different methods and techniques.
In purpose of the cardinal improvement the system of the teaching growing 
generations to foreign languages preparation specialists, freely mastered them, by 
introducing the leading methods of the teaching with use modern pedagogical and 
information-communication technology and on this base of the making the conditions 
and possibilities for broad their access to achievements of the world civilization and 
world information resource, developments international cooperation and contacts. 
Recent years have shown a significant increase of interest in the English language. It 
is recognized as the language of professional communication in different spheres of 
activity. The main task of the teacher is to increase the motivation to learn English. 
One of the most used andmore effective techniques in teaching English is Role-play 
in different stage classes.
