In 2007 the Lancaster girls won all three relays for the fourth consecutive year and won their 9th consecutive 1600-meter relay, their 5th consecutive 400-meter relay and their 4th consecutive 800-meter relay (all three state records). In 2008 Lancaster won its 10th consecutive 1600-meter relay.

Chapter Three: Great Individual Champions

MOST CAREER GOLD MEDALS
In the 106 years of the state high school track meet from 1905-2012 more than 8,000 boys and girls have been declared state champions in individual events and as members of relay teams. In addition 567 schools have been declared state champions in boys and girls divisions over the 106 years. The more than 8,000 boys and girls include numerous “multiple” champions----athletes who won two or more events during their state meet careers.

The athlete with the most gold medals (i.e., first place finishes) over the 104-year history of the state meet is Ychlindria Spears of Luling who won 14 gold medals from 1999-2002. JimAnne Baker of Cisco (2000-2003) and Toya Jones of Refugio (1992-1995) had the 2nd greatest number of gold medals with 13. The two tables on the next pages present lists of the Texas boys and girls with the most multiple gold medals.
