Swearnet: the movie

Swearnet: The Movie
is a feature film released in 2014, starring Robb Wells, Mike 
Smith, John Paul Tremblay, and Pat Roach. They along with John Dunsworth in a brief 
cameo, portray fictional version of themselves. Wells, Smith, and Tremblay also reprise 
their role as Ricky, Bubbles and Julian respectively in the mid-credits scene. And because 
it contains a lot of bad words, this film is only shown in a few country. One of the 
countries showing this film is Japan.

In this movie, the writer finds many taboo words used by the casts in this movie. 
An example is “fuck”, in the conversation that took place between the casts, they often 
said this word. Therefore, the writer is interested in analyzing this film because this work 
is aimed primarily at exploring of how the taboo words use in English. The taboo words 
is related to cultural norms, values and beliefs. Through this research, the attitudes of 
speakers and listeners can be seen towards the use of taboo words.

Theoretically the benefit of this research is to increase knowledge about 
sociolinguistics, especially about Taboo words that are usually found in the films
Practically, this research will be useful for readers to know the types, meanings 
and cause of people using taboo words in their conversation.
